The Multimodal Interaction in Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision Network of Excellence (R-MIPRCV) is proposed under the auspices of the Multimodal Interaction in Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision (MIPRCV) CONSOLIDER INGENIO 2010 project, that was carried out between 2007 and 2012. MIPRCV made important advances in multimodal interactive intelligent systems in the areas of Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision.
The main purpose of R-MIPRCV is to consolidate and to strengthen the relationships between the MIPRCV research groups with a double objective: a) to improve scientific and technological results obtained by all the working groups of the consortium, which is expected to lead to a knowledge breakthrough in the thematic areas of the network, and b) to allow dealing with the new research management challenges which are raising both in national and international areas.
An important additional motivation for maintaining the structure of the consortium is to promote the incorporation of new methodological proposals that currently show great promise, such as “Deep Learning”, “Big Data” or “Cloud Computing”. We also intend to extend the traditional areas of application of MIPRCV to new and interesting proposals where participating groups are currently interested, such as: Neuroscience, Healthcare, Agriculture, Smart Cities, etc. In these fields, new Multimodal Interaction technologies based on Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision that formed the backbone of MIPRCV, are starring to play a central role for the development of new generation of truly user-friendly systems.
