TRECVID 2004 was the fourth running of a TREC-style video retrieval evaluation, the goal of which remains to promote progress in content-based retrieval from digital video via open, metrics-based evaluation. Approaches and results on Shot Boundary Detection, Story Segmentation, High-Level Feature Extraction and Search tasks of TV news shows are summarized.
